Sailboat rental without boat license

You are here :
Can I rent without a boat license?

It is important to note that the rental of a sailboat without a boat license and without a skipper in the Antilles from Martinique is subject to certain conditions. First of all, the customer must be at least 18 years old and have sufficient sailing experience to be able to maneuver the boat safely. We will ask you to provide us with a nautical CV when signing your contract.

In addition, the client must have sufficient knowledge of navigation rules and emergency procedures at sea. It is also recommended that the client possesses a Basic Navigation Safety Certificate (CFBS) or equivalent.

When renting a sailboat without a boat license and without a skipper, the customer is responsible for the navigation and safety of the boat. This means that the customer must assume the risks associated with navigation, including damage to the boat.

It is recommended to take out civil liability insurance and boat damage insurance to cover the risks associated with navigation. The conditions and terms of insurance may vary depending on the type of sailboat.

Before leaving the Marina du Marin, the customer responsible for the boat (captain/skipper) does a hand-over with a Star Voyage Antilles technician. The operation and technical maintenance of your boat will be explained to you in detail. You will be asked to answer a brief multiple choice question, so that the technician can validate that the required skills are present. Navigation rules and restrictions to respect in your navigation area will also be given to you.
